Four College-Ready Essentials for Every Student

by Household Essentials • July 28, 2021

It is hard to believe that school will be in session soon. Summer seemed to have come and gone in a snap. Even though summer is coming to a close, getting ready for the upcoming school year doesn’t have to be a drag.

Make sure that you organize your college space with the college room must-haves so that you are ready to go on day one!

1. Compact Furniture
In college, space is a luxury which makes compact furniture essential for small spaces. That extra space can go a long way when you need to store books, supplies, or clothes. End tables are a great way to create extra storage for books and supplies. Stacked storage shelves with 3,4, or 5 tiers are also a smart way to create levels of extra storage for that small space!

2. Hanging Organization
Optimizing every nook and cranny in a college student’s room is essential for keeping things less cluttered. Hanging Organization is a way to optimize your doors, door handles, and closets because they allow you to store things like underwear, sleepwear, socks, or anything else that can be compressed. This will free up space for more important things like a bed and desk.

3. Space-Saving Storage
Like we have mentioned before, as a college student, you will need to optimize the space you have as efficiently as possible, especially in a dorm or when sharing a room. When you add a bed and a desk, the room is already partially occupied so you’ll have to get creative with how you store all the other things like shoes, clothes, underwear, and other essentials. One way to achieve this is by using an expandable shoe rack to store those shoes nice and neatly. Also, the space underneath the bed is a space often overlooked but can be perfect for storing canvas storage bags. These sorts of storage bags are flat enough to store underneath the bed and great for storing clothing that isn’t in season which will leave much-needed extra space in the closet!

4. Boxes and Bins
For even more storage, boxes and bins are a useful means for storing all of the smaller things such as college papers, supplies, books and anything else. You can even get great creative on how you display your boxes and bins so that they look more decorative than just functional, like these bins!

We hope you have a great start to the college year and that these essentials help you have a less cluttered room this semester!
